BASIC SPACE

I like Jamie. I like her vibe. I like her style. I like what she does - she is half the brainchild of Singaporean unisex label, 20:TWOTHREE and part of the barbering/creative team of Heist.

I first met Jamie at Zouk's Flea more than a year ago. I like how she creates two different seasonal looks thou wearing the same sheer skirt. Black may be Jamie's wardrobe staple but she still explores other styles by matching it with a variety of prints and textures.

Style Tip: If you must have something black in your ootd, the best way to freshen it up is to add something of a unique print or texture or colour to your ensemble.

Let's go back to her Fall look. Jamie prefers to go clean and edgy with the essentials such as her structured sling bag and wears no accessories of any sort. I'm a big fan of her oversized coat. It has a very soft and interesting layering at the back (very versatile!) and it looks great on guys too!

Here's the roundup: 20:TWOTHREE coat, thrifted skirt and bag, Cheap Monday shoes, socks from Japan.

The Other Half.

So you've met Faith. Here's her other half, Kevin who is currently serving the army. If you realise, both of them are great the layering-sweater-over-shirt look. Kevin's take is pairing his shirt from The Corner Shop with an Acne sweater. I must say his mix of denim and purple is pretty unique though I'm not sure how long he will last outdoor.

Here comes my highlight: Tommy Ton for Club Monaco Backpack baby! He managed to steal a deal from eBay and boy does it look spacious and sleeeeek. It's definitely a smart move from the fashion house to collaborate with a street photographer who is constantly on the streets. I'm still in search for my Messenger Bag!

One thing I look at when photographing guys on the streets has got to be their shoes. I feel that shoes are one of the most coveted fashion items that get guys going gaga over, just like us girls. And Kevin's oxfords from Mark McNairy is another wonder on its own. Just look at those stitches, construction, quality and details from T-to-H (toes-to-heel).

Power Preppers.

Meet Natasha and Gizmo, the prettiest preppy preppers in New York. They not only channel the ultimate preppy style from (like how Tyra Banks says it) H-to-T (head-to-toe), from the glasses, earrings, bow tie, watch, shirt, blazer to pants, socks and shoes. Seriously, which chick does it better than them? Don't you love their unique hairstyles too? Natasha's take on curls and Gizmo's braided dreadlocks are both fresh and original.

This preppy style which originated in the 1950s has definitely grown over the years. All sorts of prints, including checks, stripes, squares and even polka dots, and colours are mix-and-matched as people start to have fun with it.

Natasha and Gizmo are proud collectors of all things vintage. Gizmo owns Vintage Honeyz. I met them at WIlliamsburg Flea Market where they have a stall and fell in love with their styles. Be sure to check them out every Sunday. Oh! And did I mention they are BFFs too? How cute is that?

The thing about fashion is that you can do preppy style today and punk chic tomorrow. It's all about having a great time exploring different styles and being comfortable in your own skin and body. That's exactly what I love about it.

Stay tuned for my favourite male prepper.
