An Afterthought.

Thinking back two years of blogging when I first started in 2010, having chosen the fashion path right after my six months of exchange in Europe (fyi, I am an Economics graduate), I must say, it has been a crazy fashion shower.

From having first interned at Prada and then blogging about my dresser experience backstage at Audi Fashion Festival 2010 to writing freelance for a local blog and delving into the world of street style to winning several blogging and street style contests, interning at Elle Singapore and two of the industry's biggest fashion websites, Elle.com and Refinery29.com, and covering New York Fashion Week last year, I am truly grateful for everything that has happened, making me what I am as a fashion blogger today.

Then again, when I ask myself, 'Am I a successful fashion blogger?', honestly, I still have a long loooong way to go. Given how competitive this industry is as a whole on a global scale, and how small the local market is in Singapore, there can only be a handful of local bloggers (mostly pioneers) who can deem blogging as a professional career.
Anybody can be a fashion blogger, but what differentiates you from the rest and puts on you a higher level is definitely providing unique content (not just event photos and daily outfit posts) and most importantly how you interact with your readers who eventually become your fans.

You can't believe how thrilled I am to find out that I actually have readers from South Korea, Italy, Ukraine, Costa Rica, South Africa and Slovenia (Wait. Slovenia? Holy cow!). To all of you awesome peeps out there, no matter where you are, here's one BIG FAT THANK YOU HUG!

I have to admit, as I much as I love you all, my readers, other than 'Likes' on Facebook and Instagram (of course, they are great numbers too!), I love to know what you think of my photos, my style, my writing and most importantly, my point of view. If you love me, yes, I want more than just ADR's fashion shower! If you hate me, please do shoot me and criticise me however you wish to, just so I can make this blog better.
Some of you may have already known, I've taken on a full time job to organise Digital Fashion Week - the industry's first fashion week that gives you insights into the world of fashion from any angle. And it has clearly eaten up my time and energy to update this blog regularly. For those who have been checking for updates for the past eleven days, I know I deserve to be shot making you shrug whenever my same face with blue hair appears, rest assured, more amazing street style and fashion are coming your way.

Hi Readers!

For you lucky iPad owners out there, prepare to spend more time on your iPad, less on your beloved ones and more on my random sh*t. Ha! Singtel has just launched a free app (yes, it's FREE) today, called NewsLoop, to give you a one-stop access to all things important (my blog content especially). Yes, one touch and you get to read news, lifestyle stories, MY fashion updates and many others.

Well.. for my blog to be selected alongside BBC, Reuters and ESPN, it certainly proves something - that my stuff is pretty awesome! This also means I have to will be blogging more often now to make sure you guys stick to your iPad (and of course your mobile and computers for the non-iPad owners like moi). Enjoy!

I'm heading off for the launch event now. Follow me on Twitter and Instagram (@vionawang). :)

From Me to You.

Unlike many professional bloggers, I don't have the luxury to blog every day. Sadly, blogging isn't my full time job yet. Like many other bloggers, I do have a full time job (fashion related of course and a world's first too!) and at the end of the day, most of my energy would have drained out and my evenings will be spent with my loved ones. But I have so many things I want to share with you! Pardon me for my lack of posts, and be sure once I've struck a balance between my career-blogging-life, you'll see more of me soon!

I have to say, I'm truly thankful that this blog has opened doors to so many opportunities for me. From freelance street photography to writing, styling and even interning in the Big Apple and lastly being a CATALOG Magazine cover girl, I wouldn't have gained so many priceless experiences if it weren't for you, my readers especially. For appreciating my time, sweat (getting street style images aren't as easy as you think!), effort and passion, here's a big HUG and THANK YOU!

In the meantime, if you're a fan of my Facebook page, you would have seen my Instagram (@vionawang) images flooding your news feeds! Come on, don't complain, aren't they pretty interesting (and sometimes rather disturbing)? If not, that's my best way to keep you updated with cool discoveries, news, style tips and random stuff. And seriously, shouldn't you be on Instagram already?

Also, feel free to pop by L'OrĂ©al Professionnel Singapore Facebook page for my twice-monthly street hair fashion column and Herworldplus.com for my monthly street style roundup!

Okay! I'm the last one left in the office. Time to head for my virgin facial! Wish me luck!

Behind The Glamour.

I may be a month late but I have (HAVE!) to share this with you. If Singapore's fashion scene seems unfamiliar to you, watch The Underground Stage (TUS), created by Sinema.sg. It's an incredibly produced insight to the past, present and future of the fashion industry. We may be small compared to that of the other big four, but we are definitely on the right track, proceeding with great speed. There are nine chapters of short films in total and three are now available online.

Fashion indeed isn't just about being skinny and rich (although, sadly, part of it certainly is true).
