GO WITH THE TEE

So that T-shirt has been in your closet ever since you were in secondary school and you only wear it out for supper with friends (pairing it with high-cut FBTs) or a quick food run at a nearby coffee shop. There's actually more wearing life to your tee than that! I'm not talking about using them as rags to clean your windows but wearing them out for a lunch date, dinner with friends and even to work (on casual Fridays that is).

With a little love from our very own quirky homegrown T-shirt line, Roof Industries, let me show you how.

Anything high waisted is great to match with your T-shirts. Here, I paired it with a denim skirt my sister DIY-ed, chopping off the bottom to create a flattering shape to show off your legs - another great idea to breathe life into your unwanted denim skirts. If the denim jacket is a bit too hot (even if you have them hanging on your shoulders), opt to drop the jacket and roll up your sleeves instead (just like what you did to your PE shirts back in school. You have to agree with me, it used to be a hot hot trend and can still be hot now). Add a statement necklace to top it off. Feelin' inspired?

Style Lesson #3: T-shirt & Pants Are Best Friends.  

Shades and shoes come along thereafter. Make sure you wear shoes not flats or heels or crocs or something else. Also, I meant high-waist pants. Yes, as simple as that. Just keep those T-shirts either tight-fitting or (if they are too big) fold the sleeves up to show off those toned arms. Whether is your hair up or down, or your pants folded up (it's sexy ankles time!) or down, this look is perfect for a casual day out.

Are you a fan of matchy-matchy suits? Well, I am. And add a dosage of sky-high heels to that! During NYFW, I've spotted bright suits, floral suits, monochrome suits, printed suits and a whole lot a of variety of suits. I mean, this trend has been going on for a couple of seasons already, but where else can you find both men and women in their suits, strutting their stuff in HEELS? Only in NYFW.

Lose that spoiler: I love his oriental floral suit and of course, him feeling more comfortable in those heels than I do! But, I'll lose that bohemian sling (you don't want to crumple that blazer of yours, don't ya?) and pair it with a sleek clutch like Lauren Santo Domingo on the left. Tres chic!

Style Lessons From NYFW #1.

Attending New York Fashion Week is one of my career blogging highlights yet. Read more about my experiences and check out my street style shots here. I can't help reminiscing the good ol' times so there I was, looking through my archives and saw some street style shots I want to share with you.

I know the weather in NYC compared to that of Singapore is like heaven and earth but when I was there in September for the S/S '12 shows last year, some days, surprisingly, it felt like home. We all know the Big Apple is known for their adventurous yet stylish but sometimes outrageously over-the-top fashion. I'm not a style expert but these are just some fashion for thought and you choose whether or not you agree with me. Leaving your comment is certainly awesome (at least I know who are the people out there who finds my crap writing worth reading). So here goes...

Style Lesson #1: Keep your childhood in your childhood

Yes, I know they are adorable. One multi-coloured schoolbag may be cute, but adding your watermelon handbag/lunchbox, and worse still your Lolita dress (definitely happy for you that it still fits but seriously) and gloves makes you look like an over-grown child.

One is enough: I would keep to just the schoolbag or the watermelon bag and match it with a colour-blocking outfit.

Wow. I hope I didn't sound too nasty. Don't worry, the rest of the lessons are actually not bad. Just wanna see the response to this. ;)
